Katherine W. Phillips (1972-2020)

Kathy

Kathy was a valued member of the Academy of Management and an Academy of Management Fellow. As one of the most recognizable and powerful voices on organizational diversity research, Kathy was a true thought leader within and outside of the Academy.  You will also find it hard to find a paper submitted to MOC about diversity that does not reference Kathy's work in some way.  Kathy not only influenced scholarly thought on the topic, but she also worked to make the Academy of Management more inclusive. She was an amazing supporter of junior scholars including women of color. For these and other reasons, she received the PhD Project Management Doctoral Students’ Association Trailblazer Award in 2016 and was honored with the OB Division's Mentoring Award in 2020. Kathy will be deeply missed by all.
