Greetings –

The deadline to submit a Professional Development Workshop Proposal for the 2007 Academy of Management Meetings is rapidly approaching. Please see the necessary information below. And Happy Trick or Treating!

The Managerial and Organizational Cognition Division (MOC) encourages you to submit your most creative ideas for Professional Development Workshop (PDW) sessions. These PDW's have become one of the most intellectually rich and vibrant parts of the AOM meetings; and with your help, MOC can continue that tradition! PDW sessions are scheduled between Friday 1pm (August 3rd) and Sunday noon (August 5th). Pursue Divergent Wanderings!

We encourage you to consider the conference theme Doing Well by Doing Good as you create your proposal. Other timely issues, such as identity, image, resilience, sensemaking / meaning making, shared cognition, perceptual processes, rapid cognition / decision-making, cognitive maps and structures, and countless others are also welcomed as PDW topics. And remember, MOC encourages work that spans macro, meso, and/or micro levels. Further information about possible topic areas is available at the MOC website: http://division.aomonline.org/moc/. Provoke Divisional Wonder!

When possible, we also encourage you to create proposals that may be relevant to more than one division. The more we can share "space" with other divisions, the more PDW sessions we can house in Philadelphia! Pan-Divisional Work!

Also, please remember that PDW formats are flexible and can be made to fit a wide range of styles and needs. Think about developing PDWs that feature Ph.D. students, junior faculty colleagues, "veterans" and/or non-US based colleagues from a variety of disciplines. Some PDWs might benefit from the inclusion of practitioners as well as academics. Propose Divergent Workshops!

To submit a PDW proposal, please download and complete the PDW submission form at the MOC website:

    http://division.aomonline.org/moc/confmeet.htm.

When completed, send your form to Dick Blackburn at moc2007@unc.edu by November 13, 2006. Early submissions are encouraged, as there will be limited space on the PDW program. Procrastination, Delay, Wrong! Prepare, Develop, Write!

Please Don't Waffle, but if you don't have time to develop a full workshop, feel free to pass along your suggestions for topics around which the division might build a workshop.

    Please Publicize and Distribute Widely!"

    Thanks.

    Dick
