Postdoctoral Position in Organizational Behavior
The Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University is offering one postdoctoral position in Organizational Behavior. This position's main emphasis is on providing recent PhDs with the resources and opportunity to continue to develop their scholarly program, with the expectation that they will secure a research-oriented tenure-track position after the postdoc. This research-oriented position will be for a two-year term starting August 2011 and includes generous research support and the opportunity to pursue independent and collaborative research streams. The position includes a modest teaching requirement and no service work.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a recent PhD in organizational behavior, although consideration will be given to candidates with degrees in organizational or social psychology. The ideal candidate will also have independent, innovative research pursuits that hold the potential for novel insights. This person will be interested in working both independently as well as collaboratively with an intimate team of organizational behavior faculty with diverse research interests. While the OB area has scholars that utilize an array of research methodologies (qualitative research, surveys, lab experiments, field studies, etc.), the school has a limited subject pool and therefore will not be a good fit for those candidates wishing to run frequent studies requiring university subjects.
Benefits
This position offers ample time to pursue research projects independently and collaboratively, as well as some teaching experience. It includes full benefits as provided by Rice University, a competitive salary, and generous research support. Additionally, opportunities to participate in scholarly and applied seminars and workshops hosted by the Jones School, Rice University and neighboring institutions are plentiful and diverse. Houston, the fourth largest city in the U.S. and regularly recognized for the lowest cost of living among major metropolitan areas, is the ideal location to support a diverse array of research interests. Well known as the global leader in the energy industry, Houston is a powerful business hub boasting the busiest port in the U.S., the world's largest medical center employing over 72,000 people, and ranks second after only New York in the number of Fortune 500 headquarters.
