This PDW is structured in two parts. The first half will be open to all participants interested in hearing our distinguished presenters discuss their experiences and suggestions regarding how to best approach two crucial challenges in qualitative research: 1) how to translate empirical insights into compelling theoretical contributions and 2) how to craft an effective Discussion section to communicate those contributions. Presentations will be followed by a short Q&A session. The second half of the PDW will be reserved to those participants who have pre-registered and submitted a short, executive summary of a qualitative paper they are working on. These tailored discussions will allow the facilitators to address participants' questions about specific issues encountered when deriving theoretical contributions from an empirical story and writing a corresponding Discussion section.
Pre-registration is required for this session. To register online, please visit https://secure.aom.org/PDWReg. Please contact the workshop organizer alessandra.zamparini@usi.ch to obtain the approval code. The deadline to register online is June 1, 2018.
Proposals should be no longer than 5 pages and should describe a) the purpose of the study and the research question, b) the data collection and analysis, c) an executive summary of the findings outlining the main empirical findings of the study. Proposal should be sent to the organizers at intotheunknownaom2018@gmail.com. The deadline for proposal submissions is June 1st.
