In the past week the Atlanta Competitive Advantage Conference has been informed that it is
recommended to receive a significant grant to support its pre-conference Paper Development
Workshop (PDW). This grant will support PhD students doing research in areas related to
innovation strategy and competitive advantage.
Because this grant was recommended for approval by its funding agency following the closure of
paper submissions for this year?s ACAC, we are reopening the PDW for a limited number of paper
submissions. Papers submitted in this supplemental call will not be considered for the main
program; the main program remains closed for additional submissions. Papers submitted prior to
the call deadline (Feb 6th) will be considered for the PDW prior to papers submitted under this
supplemental call.
PhD students whose innovation?focused papers are accepted for this workshop will receive the
following support under this grant:

? Three nights hotel in Atlanta at the conference site for the period of the ACAC PDW and for
the ACAC main conference (May 14, 15 and 16, 2012)
? All meals, breaks, and receptions for the ACAC PDW and the ACAC main conference (from
lunch Monday May 14th through lunch on Thursday May 17th).
? All supplies, notebooks, etc. for the conference
Papers considered under this supplemental call need to be of close-to-publication quality and
have PhD students as the sole or lead author. Both empirical theory-based research and theory
development papers in innovation strategy and competitive advantage will be considered.
Only the lead PhD student of accepted paper is eligible for grant support under this supplemental
call.
Submission of a paper carries a commitment that, if accepted, the lead PhD student will attend the
ACAC PDW. This grant does not cover transportation costs to and from Atlanta.

end of March 2012.
