  • 1.  AoM Symposium on Identity Research

    Posted 07-19-2010 15:08
Cross-posted to MOC, OB & OMT listserves. Dear Colleagues: We invite you to a showcase symposium on Bridging the Micro and Macro Levels in the Study of Identity. Program Session #: 1333, Sponsors: MOC, OB, OMT Scheduled: Tuesday, Aug 10 2010 8:00AM - 9:30AM at Delta Centre-Ville in St-Charles This symposium attempts to build bridges between the micro- and macro- levels of analysis in the study of identity. Identity has been conceptualized as a property of individuals, groups, organizations, and larger entities (e.g., industries), yet identity scholars have devoted surprisingly little attention to multi-level research. Two fruitful avenues for creating such linkages are: 1) developing theory that connects identity at one level to identity at other levels; and 2) considering cross-level antecedents and consequences of identity as it is conceptualized at any given level. The symposium explores both approaches to encourage more multi-level identity theory and research. After presenting their research, the participants hope to engage audience members in an interactive and fruitful discussion about advancing a multi- level identity research agenda. Organized by Aimee Hamilton and Denny Gioia (Penn State), the symposium includes the following participants: Blake Ashforth, Kristie Rogers and Kevin Corley (Arizona State), Mary Ann Glynn and Lee Watkiss (Boston College), and Glen Kreiner (Penn State).
