The advent of the Internet was a trigger that enables different ways of doing business, defining the industry transformation of series of industries: Music, Editorial, Banking, and Computer as examples. The industry of telecommunications is evolving and has become a competitor of the computer industry with new forms of technology accessibility to the available data pooling the data accessibility and interactivity to the mobility, turning into rivals industries that previously were not. In this context, questions remain: What is the Stage that Ibero America is in this process? Can this create an advantage or a disadvantage for the region? What research venues could arise if comparisons are drawn to other regions such as the East? For once we can focus on many aspects of research: opportunities that arise to entrepreneurs in a ENT (Entrepreneurship) perspective; changes in strategy because industry transformation, in a BPS (Business Policy & Strategy) perspective, environmental impacts of these changes caused in the industries supply chain in a ONE (Organizations and the Natural Environment) perspective, impacts of innovations that are associated with the effect on Industry Transformation, in a TIM (Technology and Innovation Management) perspective. These are just but some possibilities of study areas related to Industry Transformation in Ibero America. The objective of this PDW is to discuss these questions i to generate research proposals, identify what is peculiar in these industry transformations and what is similar between the Ibero America and developed countries and/or other emerging economies in the East, raising issues of relevant research. We will try to take into account the particular context in which firms in Ibero America are operating and would be able to identify appropriate variables and generate testable hypothesis, in the context of Industry Transformation due the impact of Internet. A related goal of this workshop is to identify those theories that could provide the necessary theoretical foundation for this type of research.
Goals of this PDW are: to generate questions to guide research and discover relevant variables for this topic in Latin American and the East.
