    Dear Colleagues,

Please circulate the following to anyone who would be interested.  Apologies in advance for cross-posting.

    Kind regards,

    Work, Employment and Society

    Conference 2010

    Invitation to Tender

Every three years Work, Employment and Society organises a conference. The previous conferences at the Universities of Aberdeen, Kent, <st1:city w:st="on">Cambridge</st1:city>, <st1:place w:st="on">Nottingham</st1:place> and UMIST have been very successful events, attracting large numbers of national and international contributions.

The editorial board of the journal is now inviting expressions of interest from organising teams who would like to host the September 2010 Conference, entitled Work, Employment and Society Conference 2010.  The conference should attract papers related to all of the issues and debates with which the journal is concerned (http://wes.sagepub.com/).

Bidding teams are invited to submit details of their expertise, venue, accommodation and cost model. Bids should outline transport links to the host location, and also signal any special events proposed for the conference, as well as potential key note speakers. A statement of support from the institutional host department or faculty should accompany the bid.

Bidding teams must be composed of members with a demonstrable interest in the fields that the journal covers. A one-page CV for each team member should be included. The journal is particularly keen to receive expressions of interest from teams which include past and present members of the editorial board, though this membership is not a requisite.

A decision on the successful bid will be made by a group consisting of the Editorial Team based at the <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Strathclyde</st1:placename>, the Chair of the Editorial Board (<st1:personname w:st="on">Stephen Ackroyd</st1:personname>, <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Lancaster</st1:placename>) and Patricia Findlay (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Edinburgh</st1:placename></st1:place>) as Editorial Board representative.

To aid communication and accountability, a member of the successful team will be co-opted onto the Editorial Board solely for the purpose of liaising with the Board about the conference. A special issue of the journal is ordinarily an outcome of the WES conference, a proposal for which is the responsibility of the organising team.
