  • 1.  JOB Call for Special Issue Proposals

    REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR 2010 SPECIAL ISSUES

    Journal of Organizational Behavior

    The Journal of Organizational Behavior (JOB, see http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/jhome/4691) is soliciting proposals from scholars interested in serving as Guest Editors for up to three Special Issues of the journal to be published in 2010.  Guest Editors' responsibilities include identifying an appropriate special issue theme, and then securing and reviewing papers appropriate for the theme, including recruitment of appropriately qualified reviewers (three per paper, including at least one JOB Editorial Board member). JOB Special Issues typically comprise between five to seven papers. JOB will assist with administration of the Special Issue, including arranging for submission via the journal's Manuscript Central web site. Guest Editors are expected to maintain all due diligence, and to have some editorial experience.

    Proposals should include:

    ·        Guest Editors' contact information, including phone, e-mail and postal addresses.

    ·        Qualifications of Guest Editors, including previous editorial experience.

    ·        A 500 to 1000-word overview of proposed theme.

    ·        Plans for publicizing the special issue, and for recruiting an appropriately qualified reviewing team.

    ·        A timeline, beginning with an initial Call for Papers that will appear in JOB in 2008; allowing for initial submission, revise and resubmit processing; and concluding with final papers being completed at least three months prior to the publication date.

    ·        A draft Call for Papers

     

    Previous special issue topics include: Employment relationships (Vol. 24); OB in high reliability organizations (24); Reconceptualizing diversity in the workplace (25:6); Career success (26:2); Darwinian perspectives (27: 2); Commitment and identification (27: 5); Healthcare (27: 7); <st1:place w:st="on">OB</st1:place> in multinational organizations (28: 3).

     

    Forthcoming topics include: Boundaryless career research; Contexts of positive <st1:place w:st="on">OB</st1:place>; Emerging positive agenda in organizations; Job design; Paradoxes of creativity; Professional business service industry; Specifying organisational contexts; Work/family balance.

    Hello everyone

     

    The Journal of Organizational Behavior has just released the final issue for 2008. I thought you might be interested in some of this year's highlights (I apologize in advance for any cross-postings). Issue 28:8 provides a full list of articles published this year; the following are just some of the features of this volume.

    JOB published three special issues this year:

     

    Issue 3: Organizational Behavior in Multinational Organizations – Guest Editors: Mark F. Peterson and David C. Thomas.

    Issue 5: Paradoxes of Creativity: Managerial and Organizational Challenges in the Cultural Economy – Guest Editors: Robert DeFillippi, Gernot Grabher and Candace Jones.

    Issue 7: Specifying Organizational Contexts – Guest Editor: Mark A. Griffin

     

    Articles published in JOB can be accessed online via the JOB website (www.interscience.wiley.com/journal/job). See the website for further details on how to retrieve individual articles.

     

    Looking ahead, JOB has a number of Special Issues in the pipeline that will be of interest to our readers. In fact at present, we have two Special Issues with calls for papers still current:

     

    (1)     Achieving Work-family balance: Theoretical and empirical advancements

    (2)     Putting Job Design in Context: Cross-Disciplinary, Cross-Level, and Cross-Cultural Perspectives
    Guest Editors: Adam M. Grant, Yitzhak Fried, Michael Frese and Sharon K. Parker
