Are Human–AI Interactions Reshaping How Entrepreneurial Performance Emerges?

Emerging AI systems are increasingly embedded in both digital and physical environments, influencing how attention is allocated, decisions are made, and coordinated action unfolds in entrepreneurial and organizational settings.

This development suggests a shift in how performance is conceptualized. Instead of being treated as an individual cognitive outcome, performance can be understood as emerging through interaction between humans and AI systems within shared tasks and environments.

This raises a central question for entrepreneurship and management research: whether performance is increasingly shaped through interactional systems in which cognition, attention, and action evolve via continuous human–AI coordination.

I introduce the concept of human–AI performance, defined as the way cognitive processes and intelligent systems jointly shape decision-making and action in dynamic and uncertain environments.

From this perspective, performance becomes distributed across interactional processes, where attention and perception are continuously adjusted through human–system engagement.

The concept is being further developed through the Beyond Human Cognition conceptual development platform.
