Apologies for cross listing.
Dear Academy Members,
Anand and I hope this email finds you well and that you're getting excited for the upcoming conference in Chicago! We wanted to write to you to let you know about two exciting parts of the AOM program centered around
Virtual Reality in Management Research. If you've heard about VR and want to know more about it and see what we're doing, please come by. It's really hard to describe how realistic the current state is, but we'll have the opportunity for you to put on headsets to learn more.
First, we will have a
three-part VR PDW on Sunday. It will start with three presentations, followed by an Editors panel. After that, we will have a development workshop.
If you have advanced stage work you want to meet with editors about, you can submit a 3-page abstract. If you have ideas, you can submit a 1-page abstract. Or, if you have never seen this stuff before and want to see some demos, just let me know. We can then assign you to tables based on the stage of your papers, ideas or interest. All abstracts and expressions of interest can be sent to me (
thubbard@nd.edu).
The VR PDW is open to everyone.PDW Date, Time & Location: Sunday, Aug 11 2024 9:30AM - 12:30PM CT at Swissotel in St Gallen 1
Second, still on Sunday, we will host a
VR Caucus. This is going to be less formal than the PDW, but is a great opportunity to come by and join our conversation about VR in management research. We'll have time to talk about papers being published, lab designs, online data collection, publication challenges, and other topics that arise.
The VR Caucus is open to everyone.Caucus Date, Time & Location: Sunday, Aug 11 2024 4:45PM - 6:15PM CT at Swissotel in Arosa
If you want to get some more information ahead of time about what VR is and how we're using it, here are four papers that can provide some motivation, insight, and guidance.
