"What Constitutes Data (Un)Conventionality? An Interactive PDW on Unconventional Archival Data"
Friday, August 4th, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM in Hynes Room 311
Sources of archival data considered "unconventional" are odd, creative, surprising, or just plain weird (e.g., data from podcasts, trade magazines from high status industries, or historical records of unique or unusual events). In this AOM PDW, we seek to equip researchers of all backgrounds and ranks with basic conceptual foundations for identifying and using unconventional data sources to generate creative theoretical insights.
The session features three distinguished scholars who will share their experiences and perspectives from using unconventional archival data in their own research:
- Mary Ann Glynn, Harvard University
- Jeffery McMullen, Indiana University
- Henning Piezunka, INSEAD
After panelist presentations and audience Q+A, attendees will break into groups to brainstorm other potential sources of unconventional data that could be used in future research. The goal of this brainstorming session is to help attendees learn how to identify creative and unconventional sources of data they could use in their own research.
Come join us for this fun and interdisciplinary PDW packed with lessons on how to leverage interesting and unique data sources to advance knowledge in management. You won't want to miss out!
The session can be found at this LINK HERE. We hope to see you there!
