    Dear MOC scholars,

Are you attending the AOM conference in Philadelphia? Do you want to meet and work with other MOC early career scholars directly after the conference? Do you need time away from your everyday life to concentrate on a writing task? Are you struggling to finish that abstract, paper, proposal? Do you want to follow up on the feedback you received at the conference, before you forget?

This writing retreat might just be the ticket. The MOC 1-day writing retreat at the iconic Huntsman Hall, the center of Wharton life designed by the renowned architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox, offers quiet time away to immerse yourself in the writing process, plus a supportive group of other early career researchers (ECRs) and more senior scholars to cheer you along.

More info on the location: https://facilities.upenn.edu/maps/locations/huntsman-hall-jon-m

The objective of the writing retreat is (1) to support ECRs in their article writing, providing them with a structured time and space to advance their writing, (2) to give the ECRs some inspiration and tips and tricks regarding academic writing processes, and (3) to provide the opportunity for MOC ECRs to meet, socialize, share experiences, and share information about their respective projects.

Cost: Thanks to a generous grant from the Managerial and Organizational Cognition division of the Academy of Management, all costs are covered, including a light breakfast and lunch. Your home university must cover any other costs, such as travel and accommodation.

Preparation: Decide what kind of a writing task you want to work on at the retreat. It could be an article, a proposal, a conference abstract, a results section, a book chapter, or something different. Read and prepare as much as possible beforehand so that you are ready to write on your task when you join the retreat. Remember laptop, charger, and anything else you need for a productive writing session.

Registration: The registration deadline is Wednesday, July 15. We will cap registration at 20, so first come first serve! To register, fill out this form: https://tinyurl.com/MOC-Writing-2026

Please see attached for more detailed information.

We hope to see you there!
