Description.
This workshop seeks to use the momentum generated by a recent special issue on corporate purpose (Ocasio, Kraatz, & Chandler, 2023) to spur new ideas around this concept and phenomenon. In particular, the goal is to explore ideas at the intersection of two interrelated analytical perspectives on corporate purpose: inside-out, the meaningful, value-laden reason for being of a specific corporation, and outside-in, the externally-imposed expectations bestowed upon corporations by society and stakeholders (Almandoz, 2023).
Structure of the PDW.
The PDW is divided in two parts. The first part consists of a plenary panel session, where distinguished scholars will suggest new research perspectives on the concept of corporate purpose. The second part consists of a
feedback session
, where
selected research projects by junior scholars
(doctoral students and early career scholars) will receive detailed feedback on their projects.
Details for submission of extended abstracts
.
If you are a
junior scholar working on corporate purpose
, we invite you to
submit an extended abstract
(max. five pages double-spaced, excluding references, tables and figures) between
April 20th and June 3rd (5 pm London {GMT + 1})
.
The abstract should be sent as attachment via email to Luca Manelli (email:
luca.manelli@polimi.it
) and Ricardo Flores (email:
ricardoflores@uvic.ca
), with
email subject "PDW Corporate Purpose"
. While we encourage empirical projects, theoretical projects will be given full consideration.
Given time limitations, we will select a limited number of junior scholars to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss their work and receive feedback from experts.
Notification of acceptance will be emailed by June 24th
. Participation to the second part of the PDW is restricted to scholars who have their extended abstract accepted for the feedback session.
If you have any question, please send an email to the organizers Ricardo Flores, Luca Manelli, and David Chandler. We wait for your submission!
