We are pleased to invite submissions to the third "Music at Work" symposium at the Academy of Management (AOM) 2026, which we are organizing for the third time this year!
Listening to music is ubiquitous in both personal and work lives (Rentfrow, 2012). Employees may spend up to 30% of their workweek listening to music (Haake, 2011). Music, in turn, shapes performance (e.g., Cortina & Keeler, 2020), emotions (Landay & Harms, 2019), and interpersonal behavior (e.g., Kniffin et al., 2017).
The symposium aims to deepen our understanding of how music affects employees at work. In 2024, our symposium focused on task performance; in 2025, on interpersonal behavior. For 2026, we welcome a broad range of topics, approaches, and methods that advance this research area. The session will also offer opportunities to connect with fellow scholars and receive high-quality feedback.
If interested, please email a brief project description (a few sentences) outlining your research question, theoretical predictions, methods (if applicable), and anticipated contribution by Friday, November 14, 2025. The full symposium submission (4-5 page synopsis) will be due in mid-December 2025.

For submissions or inquiries, please contact: Oguz Gencay (oguz.gencay@bilkent.edu.tr) and/or Manny Gonzalez (gonzalezma@montclair.edu).
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
