The Culture of the Artificial
Translating the Interpretive Approach for Computational Research
Workshop
October 24-25, 2024, Copenhagen (Denmark)
This workshop invites extended abstracts that address methodological issues in humanities and social sciences – both constructively and critically – arising at the intersection between computational and interpretive research approaches.
Topics include but are not limited to:
- Frameworks for integrating computation and interpretation
- The role of qualitative data in computational research
- The role AI-generated content for knowledge and meaning production
- Knowledge claims and epistemic justifications of diverging methodologies
- AI and the humanities
- AI and social sciences
- Philosophical and sociological analyses of such endeavors
- Challenges of combining agent-based modeling and qualitative work
- Computational approaches to ethnographic work
- System Dynamics perspectives to qualitative data
