"Navigating Qualitative Dissertations: Advice from the Experts" is a Professional Development Workshop aimed at providing doctoral candidates performing dissertations that incorporate qualitative methods (i.e., purely qualitative or mixed-method dissertations) with focused and personalized feedback from experienced qualitative researchers. This session will include intimate discussions tailored to participants' dissertations, and also affords an opportunity for doctoral students to build their network with established qualitative scholars.
This workshop will be in its seventh year at AOM's annual conference and features a diverse mix of scholars with experience in a variety of qualitative methods and expertise in an array of topics.
In light of this year's re-imagined AOM Annual Meeting, feedback sessions will take place asynchronously, at the mutual convenience of paired faculty and student participants, anytime between early August and the beginning of fall teaching terms (as applicable).

Information on the application process:
Applicant eligibility: Doctoral candidates who are using qualitative methods in their dissertation projects and are at any stage of the dissertation process (e.g., study design, data collection, data analysis, manuscript development). Please, no junior faculty applications.
Applications should include the following:
- Your name, the name of your school, and year in your doctoral program
- A 200-word (maximum) abstract of your dissertation with 4-5 keywords that capture your topic and/or method to help best match participants with facilitators*
- A 1,000-word (maximum) in-depth description of your dissertation project, including:
- Your research question(s) and theoretical framing
- A description of your method(s) (e.g., grounded theory, ethnography, etc.) and rationale for use
- The stage of your dissertation you are currently in (i.e., study design, data collection, data analysis, or manuscript development)
- What you most hope to gain feedback on during the session and why
Submission deadline: 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (New York time) on Monday, 27th of July, 2020. Acceptance notices will be sent starting Monday, the 3rd of August.
