Greetings! We invite you to participate in our PDW on "New Directions in Research on Occupations and Professions," scheduled for Monday, August 10th from 12 - 13:30pm EDT in a Real-time Open format, where the event will be livestreamed and the audience will be able to ask questions to the presenters. [No pre-registration is needed to participate in this PDW.]

This PDW seeks to explore new directions in research on occupations and professions by bringing together five leading scholars with participants to discuss the past, present, and future of this growing area of research. These panelists will speak on the following topics:

    • Pamela Tolbert: Co-evolution of Occupations and Organizations
    • Beth Bechky: Professions and A.I. / Expert Boundary Work in Organizations
    • Michel Anteby: The Co-optation of Expertise across Work Contexts
    • Kate Kellogg: Introducing a New Role into the Occupational Division of Labor
    • Paul Leonardi: Quantification of Occupational and Professional Work

PDW participants will have the opportunity to ask questions after each presentation as well as participate in an extended discussion at the end of all the presentations.

In addition, we have also planned for an interactive Post-PDW Social event right after the event (from 13:30 - 14:30pm EDT), which will feature Zoom breakout discussions in small groups. We will provide the Zoom link to this social event to all those who attend the PDW.

We hope you can join us for this PDW and look forward to your participation.

    Warm regards,
