The Department of Strategy, Globalization and Society in The Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Lausanne (HEC Lausanne) invites applications for a full time position as
Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (Tenure-track)
In Management of Grand Challenges
HEC Lausanne is recognized as one of the top business schools in Europe and offers an excellent infrastructure for research including support staff, individual research budgets, internal funding opportunities, and conference and research support. The new professor will be a member of the Department of Strategy, Globalization and Society of HEC Lausanne. The department provides a stimulating, interdisciplinary research environment. The members of the department have backgrounds in various disciplines including management, economics, political science, sociology, and philosophy. We publish in top-tier journals in organization and management studies, and other areas.
The department engages with the important societal questions of our times and seeks to inspire and shape the transition towards responsible business and a sustainable economy. We expect the new professor to contribute to these efforts and to orient their research and teaching toward the management of grand challenges. Grand challenges comprise global societal problems, such as the transition to a carbon-free economy, the fight against poverty and inequality, and the alleviation of precarious working conditions that are emerging as a result of digitalization and artificial intelligence. These challenges are complex and require the coordinated and sustained effort from business firms and other private and public actors, as well as the development of a transformative business strategy, which acknowledge that companies have a responsibility that goes beyond making a profit.
The focus area on the management grand challenges is in line with the university's strategic goal to strengthen research and teaching on sustainability. It also offers important synergies with the six other UNIL faculties and other universities through the Interdisciplinary Center for Sustainability, the Interdisciplinary Center for Research in Ethics, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub, and the Enterprise of Society research center.
